This Grampians Riesling is a great example of a fresh zesty wine with moderate fruit and sweetness. Lending itself ideally suited to Asian food styles and anything that goes with sitting on a verandah on a Sunday afternoon in the sun
100% Grampians grown
This is a clone collected from a very old vineyard in the Great Western sub district of the Grampians Wine region in Victoria.
The vines were planted in 2003 from vines taken from a vineyard planted in the mid 1800’s. They are planted 3m x 2m using a vertical shoot positioned canopy and irrigated with an in-line drip system.
The vines were collected from the oldest Riesling vineyard in Victoria to ensure that the vines have acclimatised to the growing conditions of Great Western.
The grapes were crushed then the free run was drained off and separated from the skins. The free run juice was fermented at low temperature to retain freshness, then racked off the lees and the yeast was added. The wine was stored in stainless steel under a temperature controlled environment, racked and allowed to stand for several months prior to entering the bottling preparation process.
This wine is drinking well now and will improve over the next few years.
